Airbag front crash sensor wiring
Lately the airbag light will come an and I will get a message saying "safety malfunction", I am taking it by the shop tomorrow, but just in case someone else has this problem, it will be identified. We were driving and it came on, then went off then came back on.
Also the identify up by the lights were going between passenger air bag off and on, and my wife was in the passenger seat. Sensors in driver seat failed, causing the airbag light to light, signaling to the car that the seatbelt was not latched. This was an incessant problem throughout a drive. This happened 3 times, the first two times the dealer only reset the light. This last time, they replaced the entire drivers seat.

I recon my other half moved the passenger seat and may have caused it. Not too sure though. Yes, look under the seats, there's a little plastic cover - pull it up and check that the airbag connector is firmly in yellow one. Maybe try taking the battery off for a while? TurksterJul 27, As above, just done it on mine. Remove cover under seat, unplug yellow connector, spray with isoprol spray and clean terminals.
Then you need a full bag con to reset. Total task takes less than 5 minutes so don't pay silly money for it or find someone with vagcom to do it. Once again some great advice. Love this forum dont tell the wife i said that I had a butchers under the seat at the said plugs and wiggled them about. Seems all fine to me. The plastic clip under the passenger seat that holds the wires up is broken, but all wires seem fine too.
Off to the Lake District in the morning, so it will have to wait till i get back. Soooo good to know i may not have a major issue. Time to test out my new tyres on the windy roads while trying to take in some of the views.

Kind regards, Kieron. Kieron RevagliatteMar 14, Hi Kieron no replies from here. Audi A4 Cabriolet B6 2. My Airbag has been coming on, being re-set by me using my vag-com but then comes back on again very soon after …….User Name Remember Me? I'm having bodywork done on my car and the shop called to say that two messages appeared which were never there before.
One was about tire pressure, which I think they can reset, and the other one was an airbag light or message. I have not seen the car so I don't know what they are seeing. I'm wondering if anyone here knows where all the airbag sensors are located on a JSW with rear airbags. Maybe the airbag issue is related to the bodywork.
I don't have my service manual with me at workbut I know that there are airbag sensors in the front under the bumper cover and there are airbag sensors in the doors probably the rear doors too if you have rear airbags.
The other thing I know is that if you turn on the ignition with any of the sensors unplugged, you will get the airbag light. You will need to find someone who can clear the fault and then see if it comes back.
If everything is working, it will not come back. If it comes back, they did something wrong or they didn't properly plug something back in. What was the nature of the body work? In other words, what did they have to fix? Did the airbags deploy in the accident? VCDS will show you the exact fault code which will tell you which airbag or which sensor it doesn't like.
The body work included replacing one rear door and doing other stuff, so it makes sense that the light came on. Unfortunately for someone hopefully not for methe closest VW dealer is about an hour's drive away. They probably cycled the ign with the rear door harness.
When I installed my front speakers I had to roll a window down and forgot the door harness was unplugged. Sure set a airbag light in the dash. After a quick plug in after new speaker wires ran and a vcds reset all was ok. Find More Posts by Onefast66nova. TDI s : There is probably a sensor in each door I know there are sensors in the front doors at leastplus I think there is one at the front of the car.

Posted 17 January - PM. First to find the sensor, the net is full of suggestions but i can definately tell you pics below thats its at the base of the B pillar. After taking the sensor out i swapped it with the passenger side one and deleted the fault codes, and went for a drive. I rescanned and found that i had a similar fault code but now on the passenger side, which shows it wasnt the wiring but the sensor - new sensor needed.
Finally the sensors even though bolted on are surrounded by sponges, im not sure why, but the sponges were drenched wet. So i wiped them out and put the sensors in a plastic bag to keep them dry - surely the wet doesnt do them any good. Audi A4 B6 Tdi. The silver box is the airbag ECU, which is located under the centre console. What exactly are you trying to do? I very much doubt anyones touched any of those components. Ok thanks, I'm mainly just checking that nothing has been removed, my father seemed to think there should be sensors near the front bumper in case you have a head on collision AudiA4BAug 10, Do you see them from inside or underneath the car, if you was to change one for example or in my case prove a point with a picture?
